So who the hell is this "Iago" character? Well, if you know anything about anything (and I use this phrase very loosely), you'd know that Iago is the main "villian" in Shakespeare's tragedy, Othello.

The basic plot of the story is this (stolen from Wikipedia):

"Othello, a Moor who has just eloped with the fair Desdemona when the play opens, leaves Venice to command the Venetian armies against the Turks on the island of Cyprus, accompanied by his new wife and his lieutenant, Cassio. When they arrive, they find that the weather has destroyed the Turkish fleet. Iago [Othello's good friend and ensign] repeatedly tries to undo Othello, finally succeeding when he plants Desdemona's handkerchief on Cassio, managing to convince Othello that his wife has been unfaithful with the lieutenant. Othello kills Desdemona out of jealousy, before Iago's wife, Emilia, eventually reveals that Desdemona's affair was but an invention of Iago's. Iago immediately kills his wife also, and Othello then commits suicide in grief. At the end, it can be assumed, Iago is taken off to be tortured and possibly executed."

Edit - Amemait: Hi all! Now, don't be fooled by the outline described in the Wiki copy-&-paste. Iago is really the hero of the tragic tale!

To join this club, just send a Note with the word 'Join' in the subject line (if you don't, and instead chose to write up a word saying 'join' on the page comments section just down there, it may take a while longer for one of us to get to you). If you have a section in your journal for clubs, add this icon to the list, and add the club to your favourites. See? It's that simple.
If you wish to make a submission, send a Note with the word 'Submission' in the subject line, and a link to the art in question.

Make sense? That's good.

Hey, got a couple of pics in my gallery, based on when my brother (quite brilliantly) played Iago in school.. I studied the play at college too, and Iago is definitely one of my favourite Shakespeare villains, so I'll be joining the club if that's alright :D
:iconiagofangirlsannon:
By the way: I'm not a villain.

Perfectly acceptable by my standards.
Welcome to the fold, follower.

*grins* I wrote a uni essay on how Iago was a perfectly understandable, logical human being... my tutor didn't believe me, but she still gave me a distinction ^_^

"So tell me, what's it like living in a constant haze of stupidity?"

Anyone seen my sanity? You can't miss it. It's still in its protective packaging.

I have sunk to a new low. I laughed at an estoppel law joke.

I'm more than willing to see this essay expounding upon my virtues posted here, by the way...

*laughs* Yeah, why not? I'll join your club... the essay? Well, if you're sure...
